Velodyne SPL-10U Subwoofer

A closed design is used in Velodyne SPL-10U model and the front low-frequency driver has a 10-inch caliber. A powerful built-in amplifier of D class is able to give up to 1200 watts of power, which is much higher than in most competitors. Moreover, for better control of bass reproduction, the subwoofer is equipped with a powerful DSP section built on a high-speed Texas Instruments chip. In addition to the servo algorithm, several sound presets are wired into it and an automatic 7-band calibration is organized for the acoustical parameters of a particular room. The list of possibilities of the subwoofer is not limited to this - for the convenience a small fully functional remote control is provided. On the back wall there are both linear and high-level inputs, which further extend the possibilities.

Velodyne SPL-10U subwoofer pleased with the complete lack of side-tones of the case at any reasonable volume levels. As well as other models of this brand, equipped with DSP, the device allows you to finely tune the playback parameters for a specific type of soundtrack. When choosing one of the four presets (Movies, Rock, Jazz, Games), which are surprisingly proper to its name, the nature of sound feed changes quite significantly. Turning on Movies mode emphasizes the depth of low frequencies and high sound pressure, Rock, by contrast, focuses on the rate of fire, and the last two give a somewhat relaxed and, respectively, lively sound. It was possible to check also the efficiency of automatic calibration. Even in an uneasy from the acoustic point of view editorial room its effectiveness was simply undeniable.
