Cerwin-Vega! LW-10x SubwooferLW-10x is the smallest subwoofer of the LW series. The weight of subwoofer is huge - there is a powerful transformer inside; the magnetic system of the speaker makes a serious contribution too. Being a proportionally lessen copy of LW-12 and LW-15 the "ten" has the equipment very similar to the equipment of its larger relatives. There is the full set of switching facilities except only the input for signal, processed by an external crossover. The phase is inverted. Overload protection is performed by cutout and relay. The presence of LF amplifier of the filter of infrasonic frequencies on the input is typical for all subwoofers of LW series that is useful for small ones. In this case the clipping of infrasound occurs at the frequency of 32 Hz by the third order filter. The signal for satellites is not corrected. Probably nobody will argue with the fact that bass is good in Cerwin-Vega!, removing it in very good condition even from relatively small forms. LW-10, surely, is interior by the achieved depth to more volume representatives of the branded series, but, apparently, it fully has its main advantage: it saves the power of low-frequency acoustic kick in original condition for a listener. The perfect pulse reaction is the hallmark. In the theatrical atmosphere of fights, skirmishes and disasters the system is like a duck in water. After quite long experiments we have chosen small shelf speaker systems for the front, with which LW-10 quickly found common ground. In our conditions the dependence of the bass image on the location of the system turned out to be significant: bass changed from a bit lightweight and harsh in the position of "face to face" to soften and very impressive if the subwoofer is placed closely to the wall. We liked in system 2.1 a clear soundness of double-bass and the volume of drums. The system very calmly behaves to overloads and has the bass in good clarity up to limit volume levels. LW-10 successfully works in both 2.1 system and movie. Speaking about operating conditions, the system appears to be sufficiently targeted to support of shelf speaker systems in relatively small rooms (up to 30 sq. m.). However, you can try to deepen not too bass floor speaker system. |
