Castle Bastion Center Speaker

Castle Bastion, the loudspeaker of central channel, was created as an essential addition to the system of home theatre with Harlech S2 and Howard S3. Its construction is made in the accordance with classical D'Appolito scheme: 28-mm with a soft dome is in the center, at the edges - two 130-mm MF/LF drivers with the diffusers made of woven carbon fiber. a lightweight coil made of copper-plated aluminum conductor provides an extra accuracy and dynamics of their sound and T-shaped magnet increases the uniformity of magnetic field and, accordingly, decreases nonlinear distortions due to the increase of working path of the diffuser. The used tweeter is completely identical to Harlech and Howard tweeters, what allows to reach a similar tonal sound. The body is made of MDF plates with the thickness of 18 mm and has rounded edges. Two small ports of the bass-reflex are placed on the front panel and frame the tweeter on both sides. On the back panel there are only two pairs of terminals, designed for a decent cable and "bananas".

Sound. The British center showed very natural sound. Castle Bastion plays balanced in tonal sense; slight emphasize of the upper bass expresses in a neat underlining of lower formants of actors' voices, making the speech more effective, convex and larger. Slight damping of the top makes the listening comfortable. The elements of sound image are presented brightly and distinctly. Detailing of silent fragments is high. Energetic potential of the model is quite sufficient for the most tasks.
