Mirage MM-8 SubwooferThis sub is a cube with edge of 23 cm in length, which does not prevent it to be one of the most advanced in technical terms. It has three emitters, one of which is active and placed to the front panel, and two passive radiators are placed on side edges of the body. Such decision allowed to get the lower playing border up to 36 Hz - fantastic value for such a tiny little system. However, that's not all yet. The built-in amplifier is also ready to make boast of record showings - digital scheme is able to give up to 1200W at the peak! And if we add comprehensive controls to it (including smooth phase control), the construction can be considered to be almost ideal. The presence of only one linear input on the back wall a bit afflicts (maybe, the others didn't find room?) The sound of Mirage MM-8 surprised not less than by characteristics. The tiny, even by the standards of multi-media systems, sub showed a perfect drum bass. At the same time, such properties like correct attack and incredible speed were found. And all of these is with high intelligibility. Some disadvantages are still present. First of all, it seemed that the device has a slight smoothing of macrodynamic image, which is particularly noticeable at the playing of bass-guitar. However, even this did not stop the Canadian baby to support a large floor speaker system by bass. |
