MJ Acoustics Pro 80 Subwoofer

Pro 80 subwoofer embodies its own ideology of the British company MJ Acoustics. A relatively small subwoofer has a closed design and an impressive 12-inch driver with a cellulose diffuser. It is installed on the lower plane of the body, which somewhat increases the return at the very bottom of the working band. Unlike other subwoofers, the built-in 180-watt amplifier works in the traditional AB class, which always favorably affects the sound quality. The issue with the settings was resolved interesting: the necessary parameters are successively displayed on the small display located behind, and they are changed using the rotary control. Already usually to the subwoofers of this brand, in Pro 80 there is the ability to simultaneously connect the line and high-level inputs via Speakon connector, which is very convenient in practice.

This subwoofer attracts primarily by composure of reproduction, since the bass depth is partly sacrificed for accuracy and informativeness. MJ Acoustics Pro 80 also has an excellent sound resolution and thanks to a closed design magnificent speed characteristics. Dashing drum kicks are worked out without the slightest hint of laziness, and the bass guitar's lively rhythm is very close to natural. With large signal amplitudes and high volume, bass control may be somewhat lost. To reduce this effect, you should set the crossover frequency as accurately as possible (in our case, the optimal value was 89 Hz) and not get carried away with excessive volume levels.
