NAD C340 AmplifierIt seems that the C340 was conceived by the company to repeat the success of the legendary 3020 amplifier, which began the history of NAD. And this was done already taking into account the accumulated experience and such novelties as the load resistance control circuit (ISC), which controls the operation of the output stage. In addition, the C340 retains the traditional proprietary soft limit mode, but in the new design, its activation is accompanied by the LED turning on. Now you always know what mode you are working in, which is important, since the mode switch is located on the back wall. In addition to the tone controls, which can optionally be excluded from the audio path, the amplifier provides for the inclusion of an external processor or equalizer in the amplifier path. This is ensured by the presence of an external (jumpers) connection of the output of the preamplifier to the input of the power amplifier. The amplifier allows you to select one of the connected pairs of speakers directly from the remote control.
NAD draws a familiar, well-known symphony orchestra arrangement. The depth of the stage given to them allows the entire cast of performers to freely accommodate without disturbing the neighbors. However, this is where the freedom ends. A clear tracking of the place of each one goes a little beyond the necessary limits and does not allow the performers to completely relax and captivate themselves with music. Therefore, there is a slight tension in the sound caused by constant control. C340, as it were, "holds" the orchestra, not allowing one iota to go off the intended path. But at the same time, such guardianship resembles a caring parental hand: the sound sometimes acquires delicate shades. The reverse side of this tutelage is a slightly noticeable decrease in the transparency of high frequencies under the pressure of a symphony orchestra. The output power of the amplifier seemed insufficient when connecting low-sensitivity loudspeakers. Therefore, when choosing speakers, try to pay special attention to sensitivity. Price: $430 |
