Polk Audio PSW111 Subwoofer

Polk Audio PSW111 is designed for use in the home in entry- or mid-level musical and theatrical complexes installed in small rooms. This is a relatively modest appearance with an unpretentious (but quite high-quality) black vinyl finish.

Technically, the subwoofer is built on a proprietary 8-inch driver with a Dynamic Balance membrane, located on the front of the body. Band broadening is in the lower boundary case. Built-in amplifier has up to 300 watts in peak. The switching capabilities are wide - there are linear inputs and high-level. There is an LFE input for integration into a multi-channel home theater system.

When watching theatrical effects, the American subwoofer demonstrates a slightly compressed sound. At the same time, low-frequency pulses are sometimes perceived too hurried and slightly taken-off from the main sound pattern. At the same time, the dynamics are not a record one, but at times, noticeably preloaded. However, with reasonable use of subwoofer flaws, there will be practically no feeling. It is logical to use this subwoofer in a small room together with a set of high-quality satellites.

Subwoofer's musical abilities are preferable to theatrical ones. The attack is intelligible, the main working band is informative and clean. PSW111 works very well with after-sounds, almost always correctly placing accents. The phonogram noticeably sinks, but less complex things come quite easily. Polk Audio PSW111 operates best when the working band is limited to 100 - 120 Hz. In this case, you can avoid overloading and get sound with excellent intelligibility. I should note quite easy procedure of initial setup, which took just a couple of minutes.
