Primare DVDI10 DVD-receiverThe DVD-receiver of the Swedish company Primare was first demonstrated at the exhibition "HDI Show 2008". The novelty turned out to be interesting, but if you look at it from the consumer point of view, it will unlikely seem to be super attractive - the price is high, and the possibilities, as it turns out, are few. DVD Audio and SA-CD can not be played - only audio from compressed audio formats. This device is aimed at working with conventional DVDs and CDs and, perhaps, only the tuner module differs by advancement, which in addition to FM and MW bands can receive digital DAB programs. On the other hand, the one, who appreciates the Primare audio equipment, least of all draws attention to the abundance of functions and multi-format. The technique of this brand has many other advantages: pure Scandinavian style, original design, a solid firm construction, easy installation and customization, friendly management and, finally, high quality of electronic filling. Primare DVDI10, despite its high-end design, does not pretend to be the main home system. This is an ideal compact device for sounding a bedroom or a work-room, with a very decent video circuit and a powerful amplifier (two 75-watt amplifiers working in pulsed mode). It's easy and enjoyable to use Primare DVDI10. The receiver is equipped with high-quality RCA, HDMI and acoustic terminals, and has additional inputs on the front panel. One more characteristic detail: the back panel is slightly recessed. This solution allows you to install the receiver not only in the rack, but in general on any flat surface close to the wall and hide the cables coming out from it. The display is small and not very readable from afar, but it has a soft emerald highlight pleasant for eyes. Shinwa SHD-2503 disk drive works almost noiselessly, and the transition from track to track is carried out in a few moments. CDs and multichannel music recordings on DVDs in Dolby Digital and DTS formats are reproduced in stereo mode very dynamically. Music is given fundamentally, the sound atmosphere has a powerful infra-low frequency basis, large drums conquer you by the strength and density of the impact - they play bitingly, with good speed. The receiver gives a natural believable sound in the lower and middle registers. But the higher part of the range produces an ambiguous impression. You can hear a subtle tint in midrange, the path seems to slightly force the sound, brings an excessive optimism. The top is rather transparent, but it has light aggressive notes, high harmonics are singled out. In other words, the device does not differ by tonal neutrality, although it is impossible not to mention the highest details in the middle and high band. Connect loudspeakers with a cool middle and soft detailing in HF to DVDI10 and you will immediately get a splendid result. Good wires will help to make the sound stage of DVDI10 deeper, to get a more believable scale of imaginary sources and more distinct backgrounds. |
