Paradigm PS-1200 Subwoofer

The Canadian PS-1000 left unforgettable impressions and it will be even more interesting to get acquainted with more powerful representative of the series - PS-1200. It is a little bit larger and almost 5 kg (11 lb) heavier. There is the same narrow-band design: driver is mounted inside the body on vertical partition, which divides the internal volume of the body into two unequal volumes, the larger of which is connected with external space by three bass-reflex ports. The powerful amplifier develops 525 W. Regulations are classical: level, band width. Radiation phase can be changed smoothly. All high- and low-amplitude inputs are in place. Built-in filter of high frequencies and linear output are absent.

At gentle turning of volume level handle we quickly found all weak points of our rather large, well damped listening room: unfastened objects became apparent, glass panes jumped, floor came to life under the feet. At the same time, we want to note the rare purity of bass. There are no competitors against the Canadian in theatre and firstly - at scoring of extreme scenes (geological and space disasters). Just storm of bass. Speaking about coupling, we liked the results of joint creativity of the sub with shelf speaker systems - you can use here the whole band of low-frequency system. With floor speaker systems here is sometimes an impression that Paradigm PS-1200 works alone - move over, "colleagues". High levels can be given with the pleasure: although classical double-bass becomes a bit aggressive at high volume, any rock sounds entrancingly.
