Guru Audio QM10 Bookshelf speakersOpening the package of these nontrivial speaker systems we found out a greeting inside: "Welcome To The World of Guru", in advance inclining you to a serious attitude to the content. In addition, reading the story of this young Swedish brand, which started with the release of studio monitors, we were filled with greater reverence. Guru QM10 surprises without a peep by unusual proportions of the body with just broad as a barn door front panel, on which there is a pair of self-engineered drivers. Such an unusual decision is caused by the desire of the company's engineers to minimize phase distortions and to get maximally continuous sound stage. Woofer is loaded on the slotted port, being put in front, and its constructive aspects are worth of a separate description. Woofer is equipped with 102-mm diffuser, woven from mineral fiber and mounted on a long-stroke suspension. At the same time, as specified, the driver is able to work with incredible linearity and to create a huge sound pressure, being comparable with a woofer with the caliber of 15 inches. An inch tweeter with the diameter of 20,5 mm not only withstands significant overloads, but also has an extended working band with the upper border of 30 kHz. The bands are linked by an original crossover, designed with the principles of psychoacoustics. In order to provide maximal sound quality the manufacturer gives clear recommendations how to place the speaker systems, one of which involves a minimal distance from the floor not less than 60 cm. Sound of the system can be appreciated quite high for many parameters. It has quite wide frequency range and enviable for shelf monitors low-frequency capabilities. In addition, an attractive middle and accurate, a bit smoothed by sharpness top are also counted. At high volume the sound slightly loses in solidity, a small compression appears and side-tones of the body activate. Guru QM10 builds a comfortable sound space with noticeably enlarged images and the foreground, being pulled to the listener. By width the stage covers a large area and the density of transfer guarantees a one-piece perception of any phonogram. |
