Penaudio Rebel 3 Bookshelf speakers

The founder and chief developer of Penaudio Sami Penttila thinks that the key to quality of speaker system is not only the set of high-quality components but also a competent engineering calculation. All of these are above and beyond in the new series of popular micro-monitors - Rebel 3. Seas heads (20-mm fabric tweeter and 120-mm woofer with paper diffuser) are used in them, internal wiring is made with audiophile Jorma Design (USA) wire and the bodies have a clever construction made of 19-mm MDF combined with birch veneer. The acoustic design is bass-reflex, the back port of which is made of aluminum. In comparison with the previous generation of Rebel, crossover is slightly corrected here and real WBT terminals are installed for connection to an amplifier.

By the sound Rebel 3 reminds much larger systems - any musical material is presented energetically and cheerfully. The linearity of playing is high enough, except maybe bass band, where you can feel a slight rise near turning frequency of bass-reflex. The drop at low frequencies starts quite early, but due to constructive features the lower register does not seem to be too lightened. The main advantage of these monitors is a stunning transfer of mid frequencies. Even paying attention to rare sibilants, the playback of female vocal can be called an exemplary. About the scene: the scale is a bit decreased, the space is compact, but well-rounded and stable. Localization of imaginary sources does not cause special comments.
