Wharfedale Evo2-8 is a two-way speaker system of bass-reflex type. The drivers here are self-engineered and home-made. The tweeter has a laminated fabric dome with the diameter of 25 mm, improved heat dissipation from the sound coil and is mounted on anti-resonant base. A special compound, damping polluting emissions at MIDs, peculiar to this material, is covered on Kevlar membrane of the woofer. Build and finish quality could fairly be the benchmark for other manufacturers of speaker systems.

The playback of various test material differed by linearity, precise tonal balance and minimal coloring in the whole range. Mid-high-frequency spectrum was transferred especially rich with timbres, literally with pinpoint accuracy. Due to this you can literally fall in the atmosphere of a recording that rarely happens in the speaker systems for such money. I would call the upper range intelligent and calm; it perfectly fits the overall character of sound. Bass is very good for such compact systems; its structure and relief are transferred extremely accurately, albeit the attack is slightly faded. Because of this the most expressive recordings of modern rock lose a part of the drive. Wharfedale Evo2-8 form very dense and stable stage, the sources in its center are clearly fixed in the space, although the localization at the edges is not so confident.
