DALI SWA-8 Subwoofer

Placed on the facade a 200-mm woofer in the design of "the closed body" radiates with a paper cone. There is a shielded dual magnetic system in the motor of the driver. A four-layer copper wire spooling is made on the sound coil with the diameter of 50 mm and the length of 24 mm for support of linear mode of head's operation even at extreme shifts of movable system. The amplifier is built on discrete elements; there is a circuit overload protection.

Functions and control. A full set of connectors gives convenience and flexibility of installation. There are high-level and linear inputs and outputs. An incoming to the outputs signal is processed by the filter of high frequencies: by the 1st order on high-amplitude and by the 2nd order on the linear one. The phase is switched discretely. The activation of Auto power control mode is made not by power on button, as usual, but by a separate toggle switch - Auto Shut On/Off.

Sound. The correct definition of bass of the Danish model is consistent. SWA-8 takes up the running in the famous movie actions and its "word" turns out to be quite weighty. However, speaking about dynamics and depth of bass, the model is significantly inferior to other models. Clearly indicating low-frequency basis, SWA 8 do not pretend on high power, pressure and significant bass depth. It was rather hard to build 2.1 system with this model. But it was done with monitor speaker systems in function of partners, and the result pleased us. At low and medium volume the device was focused, tonally balanced and plastic. The attempts to significantly increase volume by Volume handle was accompanied by the reducing of transparency on the approaches to low bass. Classic sounded very attractively: small and medium performing teams.

This device can be placed in small rooms and combined with shelf speaker systems. The model will be suitable to those, who do not set up high demands to the depth and power of LF register.
