Musical Fidelity M1PWR AmplifierA compact M1PWR power amplifier is one of the latest additions in the popular M1 series. The amp was created on the back of the users' interest to network controller/pre-amplifier M1CLIC and is recommended as its partner. Musical Fidelity M1PWR provides the output power of 60W per channel (8 Ohms), which in the bridged mode can reach 100W. The use in such mode not only allows you to get increased return, but also to expand dynamical range due to better signal/noise ratio. Also there is the possibility to combine several M1PWR into systems of multi-band amplification, for example, bi-amping. It is quite easy to realize - on the back wall of the amp there is a corresponding linear input for this and convenient trigger connectors. It took some time the amp to get hot - the sound became a musical in about 15-20 minutes after turning on. At the same time the manner of playing is quite noble, there is no any aggression or stiffness. Music flows smoothly and very comfortably even for a very sophisticated listener. Despite of not the biggest power, M1PWR skillfully coped with the test floor speaker system. We liked strong and fast bass, clear and practically not damped attack. Meanwhile, the lowest frequencies are sometimes deprived of powerful force and partly depth. The amp has just exemplary for its price resolution in wide frequency band, but absolutely free and clear middle leaves the strongest impression. Well recorded vocal fascinates and piano makes you fully sink in the magic of melodies. The upper range in Musical Fidelity M1PWR is neutral, but crystal like in the best audiophile amplifiers. The lack of details in high frequencies is not felt, the smallest details, which form a unique sound atmosphere, present in sound. Macro-dynamics of the amp is at good level, but at the connection of "heavy" floor speaker systems it is desirable to user a pair of amps in the bridged mode. In this case even the most energetic recordings will be played with maximally natural contrasts. |
