JBL ES20 Bookshelf speakers

JBL believes that the era of high-resolution sound has begun and this means the need in speakers, being able to reproduce it. ES series is speaker systems of middle-level Hi-Fi class. And this series can solve the challenge, for which all speakers of this series are equipped with dual tweeter, which expands the range of reproduced frequencies up to 40 kHz. A ring made of polyester film in UHF tweeter is able to swing with such a high frequency. The tweeter with very lightweight dome, covered with titanium, plays simple high frequencies. Special EOS horns are used in both cases for uniform distribution of sound waves in space. MF/LF-driver is very small - 100 mm. Its diffuser is made of paper, reinforced by polymer. Due to such construction internal resonances of the diffuser are prevented. The optimized by the computer bass-reflex helps driver to achieve deeper sound and eliminate turbulence, which block free movement of air. JBL designers like many others think that signal path through crossover should be as short as possible. In addition, it's necessary to exclude noise and signal loss. Based on these considerations, the crossover of this model was created. A pair of metallic terminals is comfortably located in the niche on the back wall of the body.

Special lightness of sound is the merit of a pair of tweeters, one of which works in ultrasound area. Listening to JBL ES20, you can enjoy the beauty of different parts of the frequency range - smooth and informative middle, heightened (without stretch) and transparent top, qualitative albeit not deep bass, as well as harmonious sound in general. We can go on: lightness, clarity and freshness are peculiar to the sound of JBL ES20. Musical stage is visible, rich with events and proportional. All these qualities arose while the listening to different music. The playback of classics showed that by the ability to translate the subtle modulations of timbre and color, JBL is a bit inferior to competitors, particularly metallic component slightly dominate in timbre of grand piano. However, there are no significant reasons to speak about the limitations of functionality of this pair.
