Polk Audio LSi9 Bookshelf speakers

Polk Audio LSi9 are 2.5-way loudspeakers with a combined crossover of audiophile quality with a cutoff frequency of 200 and 2400 Hz. The company traditionally uses only its own drivers - a pair of 13-cm mid-woofers with a foam polypropylene cone and an inch fabric tweeter with an annular membrane.

The acoustic design is a bass-reflex and also here is a clever combination of one rear Power Port with a parabolic diffuser and a pair of front ones but of smaller diameter. This decision, according to the manufacturers, allows making the bass deeper and at the same time enhancing its information content. Inside the case there is a system of spacers, significantly increasing its rigidity. High-quality screw terminals allow you to use a thick cable.

Despite its relatively modest dimensions, Polk Audio LSi9 can boast of a deep and fairly well-developed bass register, although it still lacks a little composure at the very edge of the range. Thanks to solid LF base, the reproduction is perceived to be quite full. Subwoofer assistance may be required only when working with recordings rich with the lowest frequencies. And when you install LSi9 in a small room, you can forget about the existence of a bass machine.

The rest of the spectrum is also good. Polk Audio LSi9 perfectly work out the upper register, almost always bringing the most important musical information to the fore and not missing the seemingly insignificant details that create the necessary atmosphere. The necessary nuances are present in the mid-frequency range too. Some problems in Polk Audio occur at volume levels above average, where deviations in the tonal balance become noticeable. They create a feeling of excessively forced bass, which begins to dominate the rest of the band. There are also claims to the sound stage - the sources are not located along its entire perimeter and are localized only partially.
